did you ever hear of this psychological analyis/profile/picture/mywrist called the second child syndrome?
no? me neither. i think it is something i came up with.
apropos, it is something i think is affecting/afflicting most second-born children.
chinese families always think more highly of their first child. this is a fact, especially if the kid was a boy.
he will be made to feel important - fact is he could probably be - and more integral and special in the family. now, the youngest child will always be the one loved more. always. disagree with that how you will, it is the truth. the kid would get all the attention and would want for naught emotionally.
which brings me to my point. the second child. now, the eldest takes the glory, so to speak, while the youngest takes all the love.
these leaves poor No.2, well, pretty much nowhere. he will be in the shadow of the big brother. he would be less loved by the parents. if you parents ever read this, and can honest to God tell me that you love all your children equal, you are either a liar or an angel.
to the point, poor second-best-first-loser would then try to compensate in everyway he can. trying to be the most diplomatic one in the house. always trying to please. always trying to not offend. always tyring to make sure that there'd never be a slack anywhere. he grows up indecisive and always second-guesses himself.
he grows up living a lie and then throws himself off a bridge.
not really, but close.

disclaimer : i am not bitter, the point of the post is not to moan and whine.
if you think so, you've missed the point and can now go throw yourself off a bridge.
and this time.... really.
